João Guedes nasceu no dia 11 de Dezembro de 1985 e é natural do Porto.
O surf já era uma tradição existente na família, por isso foi algo que cresceu com ele e que sempre teve um grande papel na vida pessoal, familiar e profissional. Com o surf teve a sorte de aprender a viver em harmonia com o mar e natureza, dos quais não prescinde hoje em dia. Muito da pessoa que é hoje deve ao surf, que, mais do que um desporto, é um estilo de vida.
A nível profissional conta com alguns títulos nacionais em diferentes categorias e com o título de campeão nacional absoluto, que foi entregue aqui na Nazaré em 2009.
Teve várias participações na seleção nacional, e competiu no circuito mundial de qualificação (WQS) durante 5 anos.
Nos últimos anos a procura pelas ondas mais perfeitas e tubulares tem sido uma constante, mas o principal foco e objetivo tem passado por surfar ondas grandes, que, com a ajuda da equipa Jet Resgate, lhe permitiram alcançar algumas nomeações para o WSL – XXL Big Wave Awards, entre as quais três foram surfadas aqui na Nazaré.
João Guedes was born in Oporto on December 11, 1985.
Surfing was already a tradition in his family, so it was something that he grew with and that has always had a great role in his personal, family and professional life. Through surf, João was fortunate to learn to live in harmony with the sea and nature. A lot of the person that he is today he owes to surf, that, more than a sport, it’s a way of life.
At professional level, João conquered some national titles in different categories and the title of absolute national champion, which was delivered to him here in Nazaré in 2009.
João had several participations in the national team, and competed in the world qualifying circuit (WQS) for 5 years.
In recent years the search for the most perfect and tubular waves has been a constant, but the main focus and goal has been surfing big waves that, with the help of the Jet Resgate team, allowed him to achieve a few nominations for the WSL – XXL Big Wave Awards, three of them here in Nazaré.
